Since the firm’s foundation in 1996, C&C has sought out to be at the forefront of Macau’s legal scene and its growing importance as a member of the Pearl River Delta region. C&C’s history goes back to the early 1980’s when Rui Cunha and António Correia, two lawyers with a combined legal experience in Portugal, Angola, Mozambique and Timor started their law practice in Macau. Fifteen years later, out of their desire to start an innovative project, both lawyers joined forces and merged their law offices to form C&C.

This spirit of innovation that guided our founders has been inspiring us to find new ways to improve our services and to look for an effective and balanced growth strategy. The last few years saw us forming successful partnerships with leading law firms around the globe, which have expanded our client base and have further facilitated transactions between Macau and the rest of the world. These include Abreu Advogados, one of the biggest law firms in Portugal and with an extensive network of domestic and international contacts; Sunny-Law firm, a reputable law firm in Zhuhai which covers the whole Guangdong province; and All Bright Law Offices, one of the largest private partnership law firms in the PRC, based in Shanghai.

We currently have a multicultural working environment of over 30 lawyers, notaries and trainees, and a supporting staff team of over 40 members. Our office can handle projects in English, Portuguese, Cantonese, Mandarin, Spanish, French and Italian, and we combine technical know-how with an understanding of the idiosyncrasies of Macau. Over the years, we have been involved in numerous deals in the region, and have helped shape Macau, which we have watched steadily growing from a small Portuguese enclave into a region of an exciting and vibrant business atmosphere full of investment opportunities. With an accumulated experience of more than 35 years in the legal industry of Macau, we look forward to the future and its challenges.

C&C Lawyers’ office opened doors in February, when Rui José da Cunha and António Correia, as founding partners, together with Nuno Sardinha da Mata and Carlos Duque Simões set up C&C Lawyers in Macau. Back then, Rui Cunha was already a prominent lawyer and judge with over two decades of experience in Macau, Portugal, Angola, Mozambique and Timor-Leste. Independent and ground-breaking, C&C has always strived to remain innovative in the ever-changing market of Macau.

Álvaro Rodrigues and Zhao Lu are made partners of the firm.

After a few years away from Macau, Nuno Sardinha da Mata returns to C&C as partner. Nuno Sardinha da Mata’s professional relationship with Rui Cunha went back in time for well over a decade since 1990.

Partnership with Abreu Advogados law firm from Portugal. The network together with Abreu spreads over the globe, with coverage in Europe, Brazil, Angola, Mozambique, Cape Verde and Timor-Leste.

C&C Advogados and Abreu Advogados, together with local partner Arnaldo Silva & Associados, open a joint office in Cape Verde.

Firmly implemented in the territory for over two decades, C&C is renowned by the quality of its services, the pioneer and dynamic spirit of its team and the strictness and excellence that regulates its mission.

Today, C&C is one of the largest and most respected firms in Macau, and the first one to be organised by practice areas, allowing their lawyers to further cultivate their knowledge in their preferred subjects, enabling them to provide in-depth legal assistance to their clients.

Besides our practice in Macau, we follow a policy of international partnerships and collaborations with renowned law firms, offering a specialized service directed towards the needs of our Clients, while addressing both western and eastern cultures and consistently growing our global network. Apart from having partnerships with law firms from China, Hong Kong, Portugal, Mozambique, Angola and Brazil, most recently we opened an office in East Timor in a joint venture with Abreu Advogados and in Cape Verde with Abreu and a local partner.
